Ethical leadership as a facilitator of employee voice: The role of error management climate and organizational commitment in creating ethical behaviors

Abstract

Background and purpose: Ethical leadership in organizations is known as one of the key factors in the formation of ethical behavior of employees and strengthening the atmosphere of trust and honesty.
Method: This study is applied in terms of purpose and descriptive-survey in terms of nature. The statistical population includes the administrative staff of education in Arak city in the academic year 1401-1402, whose number is 608 people. Using the Karjesi and Morgan table, a sample consisting of 235 people was determined and the questionnaires were distributed and collected among the sample members in a simple random manner. PLS software and structural equation modeling method were used for data analysis.
Findings: The findings of the research showed that ethical leadership has a positive and significant effect on the atmosphere of error management and the voice of employees. Also, the climate of error management directly affects the voice of employees and its mediating role in the relationship between ethical leadership and voice of employees was also confirmed. Furthermore, employee organizational commitment as a moderating variable strengthens the effects of ethical leadership on employee voice.
Conclusion: The results of this study show that ethical leadership can encourage employees to express their voice by creating an atmosphere of error management and strengthening organizational commitment. In this way, strengthening ethical leadership in organizations can be considered as an effective strategy to increase the voice of employees and create a positive organizational atmosphere.
