Abstract

Preschool is one of the important periods of life and plays a significant role in the development of a child's personality and future. Thus, the aim of the present study was to investigate the necessity of a moral education curriculum in the preschool education system. The research method was qualitative and the statistical population included documents related to the research topic as well as faculty members in the field of educational sciences (such as curriculum planning, philosophy of education, preschool education, etc.) in universities and higher education institutions, who were selected as a statistical sample using a purposive sampling method and considering the saturation law of 21 documents and 20 participants. To conduct the research, experts were interviewed and the content of the interviews and documents was analyzed using a conventional qualitative content analysis method (inductive). By analyzing and coding the texts and interviews, the necessity of a moral education curriculum included 38 concepts, 7 subcategories, and 3 main categories, the main categories of which included moral empowerment, individual readiness and empowerment, and socio-cultural contexts. Therefore, a moral education curriculum in preschool is highly necessary and it is desirable to implement it in preschool.
