This research aimed to explain the educational methods of confronting "long-term desires" (far-reaching desires) in an ethical lifestyle from the perspective of Nahjul-Balagha. The main issue was how to confront and control the perishable material and sometimes immoral desires in the present era, which have become an obstacle to the realization of a good life with the spread of material life and the influence of the Western lifestyle. The central question of the research was: How can the most important educational methods of Imam Ali (AS) in confronting long-term desires, based on the concepts of applied ethics, lead to the formation of an Islamic lifestyle? This research was conducted using a descriptive-analytical method and, based on the sermons, letters, and wisdoms of Nahjul-Balagha, six educational methods were extracted: preaching (hoping for divine grace and redefining desires in the form of "hoped-for good"), role modeling (following the example of the pious and the family of the Prophet (PBUH) to guide desires towards transcendent values), warning (warning about the destructive consequences of worldly desires and their allure), learning lessons (learning from the fate of predecessors and the impermanence of the world), facing the consequences of actions (raising awareness about the moral and afterlife consequences of behaviors), and imposing on the self (managing desires through asceticism and self-control). The findings of the research show that Imam Ali (PBUH) seeks to create a deep insight in the audience so that they can redefine their desires within the framework of a meaningful life.
